USHER STILL MAMA'S BOY
The R & B hitmaker has poured more influential Hollywood Benny Medina and find another mom as his manager Jonnetta Patton, E! News has learned exclusively.
"With an artist like Usher, the bar is really high," said Medina E! News. "It is management, marketing or music, we have a single No. 1 and a No. 1 Album ... I had a great time and parted ways amicably."
The behind-the-scenes shakeup also saw the voluntary departure of publicist Patti Webster. "I was not fired," says E! News.
Sources say that the Medina division is a direct result of record sales disappointing for the team's first and only collaboration, Here I Stand.
"The record is fairly rigid, and almost nowhere as successful as Confessions," an insider trading says, referring to the singer successful 2004.
Confessions from around the world is a sensation, selling 19 million copies under the supervision of Patton. After debuting at No. 1 in June, Here I Stand, Usher fifth studio album, has chalked a comparatively insignificant 2 million in sales worldwide. This, despite the success of the radio single "The love of this club (Part II)."
Medina added: "It's a new day and time in music now. In four years, its audience, demographic, and musical direction has changed. Records as Lil Wayne's' Lollipop 'is the kind of phenomena that' Yes' was in 2004 . "
There was no immediate comment from Usher or Patton.
Usher dumped for momager Medina last year amid reports of tension between the wife Tamek Foster and Patton-and taking into account its previous observations, it might be difficult to go home again.
"This is great for me because it means that now come to have my mother strictly as my mother, without added pressure," a name surprisingly, whose last name is Raymond, told the Associated Press in 2007, when he and Patton parted ways.
And just last month, the 29-year-old entertainer was quoted in Vibe magazine calling her mom a "aggressive person" who made his difficult decision to part ways.
"It pains me more than anything else during these past two years, when I felt my mother does not really accept my situation," said Usher Vibe.
News of the switcheroo also comes after Usher's rep shot down rumors that he and Foster were having marital problems.
While it remains to be seen if we still have Patton multiplatinum contact when it comes to guide his son's career, Medina probably will not hurt too.
His current stable includes Nicole Richie, Mariah Carey and Rupert Everett. It has also helped call the shots in advance for people like Jennifer Lopez, Tyra Banks and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
