50 Cent Sues Taco Bell



New York - rapper and hip-hop mogul 50 Cent sued Taco Bell on Wednesday, saying that the restaurant chain made him the star of his hip-hop-themed advertising campaign without his permission and without paying him a fee.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, accuses the Mexican-style fast food chain to "dilute the value of his good name" and employing a guerrilla advertising campaign to deceive consumers into thinking that had endorsed chain, said that the claim, filed in federal court in Manhattan.

"Without seeking or obtaining the permission of Jackson, accused Taco Bell made him the star and focus of its nation-wide advertising campaign using his name, the individual and to promote the Taco Bell brand of businesses and products, "said court documents.


A spokesman for Yum! Brands, which operates Taco Bell, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The claim accuses the chain of distribution of a letter addressed to 50 Cent, which encourages the rapper to change its name to "79 Cent", "89 Cent" or "99 Cent", said the demand.

The letter was designed to promote the company "79-89-99 Cent Why pay more", while avoiding the rate of millions of U.S. dollars rapper could have been charged with making use of his name, said demand.

The letter was sent to the rapper, but only after it had been circulated to journalists, said the demand.
